Ozzie’s story: My mentor Mr. Freddie Lambert was a ventriloquist popular from the 1940s through 1970s. I met Freddie when I was in my twenties and a new arrival on Canada’s west coast. He was the first professional ventriloquist I ever met, and he schooled me on many of the tricks of the trade. With this master’s knowledge came Ozzie. Freddie told me Ozzie’s full name was Ozzie Twiggs.
Freddie gave me Ozzie to use as my own figure. Ozzie got me my first role on TV, which led to being a member of UBCP and much more. Ozzie’s head was hand-carved and built by a student of Freddie’s called Theo Wilkie, and his hands were carved by Freddie himself. I had a body made for Ozzie’s head and hands and his inner workings were also refurbished. Ozzie does not have a copyright and is an original figure.
Ozzie’s mouth can move easily and his eyes can move from side to side. He has been used in a commercial recently, dressed as a little girl, so wigs and other clothes can create the look you need for your project. With this rental comes a tutorial on how to manipulate Ozzie and care for him. He is one-of-a-kind and deserves to be in the limelight. He’s quite the charmer!
