Puppet-making and puppetry workshop for classroom teachers
Enter into the world of puppets and puppetry with renowned ventriloquist and puppeteer Kellie Haines and artist/educator Greg Robinson. Participants will build their very own puppets, learn puppetry techniques, and be led through a number of fun and exciting exercises in classroom applications. By workshop’s end, each educator will be equipped to lead their own puppet-making exercises, and to utilize puppets in their classrooms
Ventriloquist and puppeteer Kellie Haines has facilitated puppet making and puppetry workshops for several years at Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School, in Metro Vancouver and at numerous schools, festivals and other community events in British Columbia and Western Canada. She is a professional ventriloquist and puppeteer for stage and film.
“Teaching friendship skills and social behaviours are big aspects of the workshops. Children are much more able to share ideas and accept ideas through their puppets and through Kellie’s puppets. Also, making those things we are all insecure about okay to express is key. Students learn about resilience.” – Teacher at Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School
