Hey everyone! The puppets and I are so happy to continue performing at some very cool gigs and we want you to know about them! This past weekend we performed in the Maury Young Arts Centre Theatre at the Whistler Children’s Festival to a full house, and then we did two workshops on puppet-making the following day, leaving Whistler with a spring in our step. Honestly, audiences were so much fun! With that, I’ll take a moment to say thank you to the people that run the events, the other performers who I meet in the green rooms, and to all of you who come and play!
This weekend, May 26, 27 and 28, is Surrey Spark Stages where we will be doing micro-performances and roving at Surrey Arts Centre. Some other fun places where we will be performing is at the Fraser Valley Children’s Festival on June 11 and later The Steveston Salmon Festival and Fort Langley Canada Day both on July 1. We are still confirming bookings into the fall. The Douglas Park Community Centre event on Thursday August 3rd at 6:00pm. Bring your picnic blanket or lawn chair for this outdoor event. (In the gym should it rain!)
I’ll fly with the puppets to the Burns Lake Centennial Celebration on August 19 and then on to the Bulkley Valley Exhibition August 24,25,26 and 27! World River’s Day at Burnaby Village Museum will have a bird and frog singing on stage on September 24, and we are doing some private performances where kids and families can have a great time together! This summer into the fall I continue to teach students, from young ones to adults, the art of ventriloquism and hand puppetry; exploring voice, gesture, ventriloquism technique, puppetry for stage, script writing and lots more. The cool thing about Zoom is that I can teach students in New Delhi, the UK, USA and Canada all in one day.
So have a great spring into summer into fall, and please follow us @kelliehaines on Instagram and Kellie Haines Ventriloquist on Facebook where we will continue to post all of our shows and workshops. We custom tailor each show to make it the best fit for every event. Kamilla and Magrau love the meet and greets after the shows where we can relax and have great chats and photos with new friends and old.
